Having grown up with Facebook and social media, you are well-aware of blogging as a way of keeping in touch with people. You're planning on using a blog to market your business. Because you've researched your audience extensively, you already know what content to keep them engaged. What you may not know is the best way to format your blogs for maximum effectiveness. These guidelines can help and Denver SEO experts Revenue River can prove it.

  • Make your posts concise. Your customers are as busy as you are and have to snatch time during the day to read your blog. Reduce your message to between 300 and 500 words so your audience can get what it needs quickly. If you must use more words, split your writing into two or more entries, and put links in each post to the other parts.

  • Break up the writing. One large paragraph is hard to scan because you can't quickly find the beginnings and endings of ideas. Use several small paragraphs of three to five sentences. Break each major idea up with headers that are boldfaced to make them stand out.

  • Use lists. The least readable way to point out more than three items is to write them on the same line and separate each item with a comma. For better readability, break each item out into a separate line so each is easily distinguishable. Precede each line with a bullet to emphasize all items equally, or with a number, if you want to designate importance or an order.

  • Focus on your buyer personas. Make sure you are considering who is going to read your article and provide content around that persona.

  • Have a call-to-action (CTA). The point of promoting your blog articles is to get readers interested in you and what you might be able to do for their business. Put a top-of-the-funnel CTA at the bottom of your article prompting readers to continue the conversation.
